In plain words: a card terminal at the checkout

A payment in an online store works like a card terminal at a shop counter. The store never holds the customer money, it hands the customer over to a payment operator that takes the payment and sends the store a confirmation.

In the last checkout step the customer picks a convenient payment method.

The operator takes it

Payment rules

You decide who sees a payment method and when. Some rules are built in, the rest comes with SoftSolid add-ons.

Payments in a Multi-Vendor marketplace

In a marketplace the money also has to be split between you and the vendors. Multi-Vendor 4.21.2 offers three ways to do it.

Through the marketplace account

The customer pays you, and you pay vendors their share based on the accounting in the panel.

Split payments

Stripe Connect or PayPal split the payment between the marketplace and vendors at checkout.

Straight to the vendor

From the Plus edition each vendor can accept payments to their own account.
