Extension to CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows blocking network robots. Network robots are that visit random websites, catalog them and generate artificial network traffic. Blocking them may speed up your store.
We start from installing an extension:
List of robots is available in menu under tab "Website":
Robots list by default contains most popular and most aggresive robots. Customer can add or delete robots. To edit robot settings, click its ID:
When adding or editing robot, the following options are available:
- Unwanted robot name - robot name, does not affect anything.
- Robot ID - identificator that is set as parameter in robot's User-Agent. Robot identity is checked with this parameter, to decide if he is allowed to enter the store.
- Blokuj robota - mark this field, if robot should be blocked.
After configurating robots, we have to save then to store configuration:
When robots connects to the store, add-on checks if he is present on robots list and is marked as blocked. Below we're mimicing the SemrushBot:
Because robot is marked as blocked, an error 403 is displayed and connection is closed.
When trying from other browser, store is accessible:
This way, we can reduce traffic in store and increase availability for real customers, by reducing amount of robots.
